Dialogue on Awareness and Safety Among Girls Through “Sensitization Workshop” in Haldwani
On May 7, 2025, under the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” campaign, a “Sensitization Workshop” was organized at D.A.V. School, Haldwani, providing a powerful platform for girl students to openly share their concerns related to personal safety. The workshop was conducted by Child Development Officer Ms. Shilpa Joshi, Ms. Tabassum, and Ms. Priyanka. Students from classes 9 to 12 participated enthusiastically and openly expressed their experiences and views.
During the workshop, the students discussed various situations and behaviors present in the city that made them feel uncomfortable or unsafe. They voiced their concerns with confidence and emphasized the need for greater social awareness. The officials listened attentively and assured them that the safety of girl students is a top priority.
In the session, the students were also introduced to the Uttarakhand Police App, which offers services such as emergency assistance, incident reporting, and quick access to safety services. This app was highlighted as an effective safety tool, especially for young girls.
The school administration described the workshop as extremely useful and timely, stating that such initiatives not only raise awareness among students but also make them more alert and empowered regarding their safety. Additionally, these activities strengthen the dialogue between the administration and the school community.
